Celebrating at Cross-Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero and on Cermis
The countdown has officially started for the upcoming stage of the 17th Tour de Ski in Val di Fiemme, from 6th to 8th January 2023. Three days of great show starting from the Cross Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero, “host site” of the Winter Olympic Games of Milano-Cortina 2026, to the ending exploit with the Final Climb to the intermediate station “Doss dei Laresi”.
The monster climb, as Norwegians call it, represents a challenge also for those taking part to the 12th edition of “Rampa con i Campioni”, the promotional open race that recently opened registrations. It’s perfect for athletes who want to live as protagonists the “final” experience, mirroring the World Cup champions on Sunday 8th. Cross-country champions and lovers take part to the 10 km Mass Start starting from the “Olympic” stadium, passing by Marcialonga’s track and finally ascending to the alpine skiing slope Olimpia III of Dolomiti Super Ski. No ‘discounts’ as far as grades are concerned: 26.5% gradient at “Jump of Skiri”, then to “The Deer’s Den” touching 28% gradient. “Rampa con i Campioni”, started as a simple collateral event in 2011, has become one of the most important and loved competitions among audience, thanks to the great performances of the ex-champions, such as the Olympic Cristian “Zorro” Zorzi, third in the first edition won by Bruno Debertolis, or Antonella Confortola, Rampa “queen” in 2018 and in 2016, second place in 2014. Among others: the German Peter Schlickenrieder, Olympic silver in Salt Lake City 2002, the Norwegian Petter Northug, with 16 World and 4 Olympic medals. Moreover, Justyna Kowalczyk, the most winning woman of Tour de Ski with 4 victories, first at Rampa in 2014, and even the “fathers” of Tour de Ski, Jurg Capol and Vegard Ulvang, and many more.
That’s not all folks! On Saturday 7th, colours are exploding with the Coop Mini World Cup, a gymkhana race for little ones where the key word is fun. The main goal of Coop Norway, event title sponsor, is promoting ski competitions among young people, with the possibility of cheering closely their idols.
Tour de Ski and a delicious Tour… “del Gusto”: on Sunday 8th, while celebrating the new king and queen of the Tour, audience can taste a wonderful selection of typical food from Val di Fiemme and Trentino, along the track, thanks to the stands of the local associations.
