Spring is in full swing, and summer is approaching, but Val di Fiemme never stops and is already announcing the dates of its upcoming competitions. Following the FIS Technical Spring Meeting in Portorož (SLO), the calendar for the coming winter season has been drawn up, with Val di Fiemme once again playing a leading role.
After the 2025/2026 success, the eyes of the Trentino valley are all on the 21st Tour de Ski of 2027, for three thrilling and decisive days, in an historical event that continues to see Val di Fiemme play a leading role in every edition of the Tour since its inception in the 2006/2007 season.
Scheduled from January 8 to 10, the stage race within the Cross-Country skiing World Cup calendar will open with the skiathlon on the day of Friday 8, in Lago di Tesero. It will follow the sprint race in free technique and, of course, the iconic and gruelling Final Climb of the Cermis, set to crown the new winners. Memories of the record-breaking triumphs of Johannes Klæbo and Jessie Diggins are still fresh, and whilst the Norwegian will be aiming to retain his title for the sixth time, the women’s throne has remained vacant since the American star hung up her skis at the end of last season. Before arriving in Val di Fiemme, the 21st Tour de Ski caravan will return to competing outside Italy for the first time in two years, starting in France – a first ever – and passing through Germany.
However, Val di Fiemme is not focusing only on the Tour de Ski: the Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme president, Pietro De Godenz, and its committee are already hard at work on the Roller Ski World Cup finals, scheduled for late summer, from September 18 to 20. Here too, there are three days not to be missed, with the roller skiers competing for the title following the events in August in Sweden and early September in Latvia.
From December 11 to 13, the Nordic Combined World Cup returns to Predazzo and Lago di Tesero for another three-day event, featuring both men's and women’s competitions, serving as a prelude to the Ski Jumping Continental Cup, scheduled for December 19 and 20. Following the success of the Winter Olympics, it will be a special occasion to once again experience such a prestigious competitive atmosphere throughout Trentino, with the Olympic venues set to shine once more as they host the sport’s greatest athletes; all that remains now is to mark these dates in your diary.
‘We return from Portorož with plenty of confirmations, ' says Pietro De Godenz, following the Slovenian meeting he attended alongside General Secretary Cristina Bellante, ‘FIS has confirmed the leading role of Val di Fiemme in the Tour de Ski with three days of competitions, the return of Nordic Combined and the future project of Ski Jumping, which is particularly important to us as it will showcase the renovated jumping hills of Predazzo. Nor should we forget the confirmation of the YOG (Youth Olympic Games) Nordic skiing events scheduled for 2028. Our strength, in addition to the skills of our team and the invaluable support of our volunteers, lies in our solid partnership with the institutions, primarily the Province and the municipalities. With the projects, and a likely candidature for a fourth World Championships yet to be decided, the legacy following the Olympics is assured. Our facilities are now ready for new major challenges.’
