FIEMME NORDIC SKI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
1991, 2003, 2013
The 3 World Championships
held in val di fiemme

At the end of the 1980s, thanks to the enormous interest in cross-country skiing in Val di Fiemme, the idea of becoming a candidate for the FIS Nordic Skiing World Championships was born.

The FIS Nordic Ski World Championships 1991 are then assigned to Val di Fiemme: it is the first time that this event takes place in an area south of the Alps (the Trentino region), in the mediterranean area of Europe, “where during summer the lemon trees bloom and the olive trees prosper”, quoting the president of the Organising Committee at that time, Giorgio Tononi.

Since then, the valley has never stopped. The first FIS World Cup took place in 1990. To date, the international races organized in Val di Fiemme have exceeded 400.

1991, 2003 and 2013 are the three editions of the FIS Nordic Ski World Championships organized in Val di Fiemme, to which are added the Junior & U23 Fiemme 2014 World Championships and the Roller Ski World Championships in 2015 and in 2021.
