The big crowd, the stadium atmosphere and the adrenaline rush that only sport can give: the Ski Jumping men’s competition on the HS143 at the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium was a whirlwind of emotions.
The winner of the crucial stage of the FIS Summer Grand Prix 2025 was none other than the Olympic champion Ryoyu Kobayashi (JPN), who, after the evocative performance of the Light Show, made the heart of Val di Fiemme race just before the start.
The Japanese champion Kobayashi showed great confidence on the large hill in Val di Fiemme right from the first jump, where he took the lead with a score of 137, the result of a 136,5 metres jump that allowed him to leave all his competitors behind, first and foremost Austria’s Stefan Kraft. To highlight the high level of competition among the élite of Ski Jumping was the fact that the 6 athletes from 3rd to 8th position were all within a few tenths of a point (from 132.8 of Maximilian Ortner, AUT, to 132.2 of Aleksander Zniszczol, POL).
Between the jump and the next, the performance of the folkloristic group from Predazzo, the Aizenponeri, garnered applause from fans from Poland, France, Slovenia, Canada, Austria, and, of course, Italy, who crowded the stands of the Ski Jumping Stadium. However, the music of the young dancers of Val di Fiemme did not distract Kobayashi, who, on the contrary, improved in the second round. Ha came down as last from the HS143 hill and enchanted the public with a jump of 143.2 points, standing out against his competitors with a final score of 280.2. The Japanese had already tasted victory in 2019 in Predazzo, beating the two Polish Kubacki and Stoch. Behind him, Austria's Manuel Fettner made a remarkable comeback after finishing 9th at the end of the first round and ended up in second place (270.8 points), while Germany's Philipp Raimund (269.6 points) completed the podium.
Once again, there were a couple of disqualifications during the competition for inconsistencies with the regulations, which were promptly identified by the FIS technicians with the support of the local organising committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme and its volunteers. Among the high-profile DSQs was one of the day's favourites, Niklas Bachlinger (AUT).
The third day of the FIS Nordic Summer Festival in Val di Fiemme reached its conclusion under the starry sky of Predazzo with an Olympic-style award ceremony by Andrea Varnier, CEO of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026.
Today there is the grand finale, with all disciplines in action and hundreds of competitors from 33 Countries. The day will start with the Nordic Combined (men's Individual Gundersen), followed by Roller-skiing (Mass Start) and concluding with Ski Jumping (men's Super Team).
