Ski Jumping is, without a doubt, one of the most spectacular and evocative sports disciplines in the world, and Val di Fiemme is one of its key venues. Even thanks to the recent renovation of the Ski Jumping Stadium of Predazzo, the valley in Trentino is preparing to reaffirm itself on the international scene with a high-level facility. It will be bustling with activity from September 18 to 21, when the FIS Nordic Summer Festival will take place between Ziano di Fiemme and Predazzo, featuring Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, and Roller-skiing specialists.
The renovated jumping hills make the Ski Jumping Stadium of Predazzo a high-tech facility. The inruns, equipped with tracks featuring a cooling system, are 77 m long in the case of the HS109 and 94,50 m long in the case of the HS143. They have been built with a 32° gradient and allow for spectacular jumps. The best athletes of the global scene will be able to perform jumps of hundreds of metres with distances of 109 and 143 metres, which are also included in the name of the hills to indicate the size of the ramp and, just as importantly, the maximum length that can be safely achieved for a jump.
On the occasion of the FIS Nordic Summer Festival, the auxiliary facilities will also be officially tested, including the innovative inclined lift that will connect the Athletes’ compound to the starting area, transporting up to 20 people over a distance of 250 metres. Other facilities to be tested include the Judges' tower with jury room, timing room, technical rooms, and, finally yet importantly, the heated rooms located above the access area of each jumping hill, where jumpers can prepare adequately for the jump.
The renovated facility in Fiemme has already been buzzing with excitement for weeks, and the Italian national Ski Jumping team was the first to kick off a series of training camps in the valley to familiarise themselves with the hills in Stalimen. Last week, the women's team, including Lara and Jessica Malsiner, Martina Zanitzer, Noelia Vuerich and Martina Ambrosi, underwent intense training sessions, while Alex Insam, Francesco Cecon and Giovanni Bresadola are currently practising on the ramps of the G. Dalben Stadium.
Countries such as Germany, Austria, Norway, Poland and Slovenia have a long tradition of Ski Jumping, so it will come as no surprise if the Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium is packed with fans and enthusiasts from these countries, making the event even more special. During the FIS Nordic Summer Festival in Val di Fiemme, there will be individual Ski Jumping competitions for both women and men on the HS109 (Thursday 18) and HS143 (Saturday 20), and the men's Super Team competition on the HS143 (Sunday 21). In addition, the event programme will also feature three Nordic combined competitions and ten Roller-skiing competitions, as well as exciting side events for athletes, spectators and the local population.
The FIS Nordic Summer Festival will be a real festival open to everyone, whether they are sports enthusiasts or not, to celebrate in a lively, welcoming and energetic atmosphere. “Jump in the breakfast”, live music and DJ set, Septemberfest and much more will crowd the Fiemme Party Tent that will be set up at the Ski Jumping Stadium, without forgetting that Tina & Milo, the official mascots of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, which Val di Fiemme is rapidly approaching, will be there to entertain young and old alike. The organising committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme is busy setting up the FIS Nordic Summer Festival, along with reliable sponsors and hard-working volunteers for an event that will also boast extensive media coverage, including live and pre-recorded TV broadcasts on a wide range of television stations.
