With less than 20 days to the Val di Fiemme appointment with the 20th Tour de Ski of January 3 and 4, 29 countries have already registered with almost 200 athletes from all over the world, mainly from Nordic countries, led by Norway with a large contingent of athletes, followed by Finland, Sweden, USA, Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy, as well as Andorra, Argentina, Chile, Japan, Serbia, Thailand and Chinese Taipei. The anticipation for what promises to be a spectacular event is growing ever more intense.
The event will start on Saturday 3 at the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero: at 12.15 pm, the Sprint qualifications in classic technique for men and women will begin followed by the finals in the afternoon from 2:45 pm. On Sunday January 4, the athletes will compete on the Olimpia III of Alpe Cermis, the iconic ascent of the Tour de Ski that attracts the attention of fans from all over the world. The race will start in Lago di Tesero at 11:30 am with the men's 10 km Mass Start in free technique, while in the afternoon at 3:30 pm, the women's race will take centre stage as the last race of the 20th Tour de Ski.
The World Cup internal circuit competitions will be a final major test before the February and March appointments with the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, when the valley in Trentino will host the competitions at the Ski Jumping Stadium of Predazzo and the Cross-Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero.
The weekend just ended in Davos (SUI) delivered a real feat for Italy, which, with Elia Barp and Federico Pellegrino, won an extraordinary silver medal in the team sprint in free technique, behind only the Norwegians led by the relentless Johannes Høsflot Klæbo. The Swiss weekend saw Pellegrino in amazing shape, capable of securing another second place, this time in the sprint, beaten at the finish line by just three hundredths of a second by France's Lucas Chanavat, who has already been confirmed in the French team of 13 skiers who will compete on the snow of the Tour de Ski.
On December 6, the Olympic Flame began its journey from Rome, an exciting 12,000 km journey that will touch over 300 municipalities and end on February 6 at the Opening Ceremony in Milano at the San Siro Stadium, where Federico Pellegrino and Federica Brignone will parade as flag bearers for Italy. The Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Flame will arrive in Val di Fiemme on January 28, crossing the Ladin valleys and ending its journey in Cavalese, passing through winter sports destinations such as Predazzo and Tesero.
On Sunday, January 4, starting at 11 a.m., while athletes compete on the Olimpia III slope of Alpe Cermis, the Tour del Gusto will also take place at the edge of the slope, where the public can enjoy tastings of typical products from Val di Fiemme and Trentino, a mix of gastronomy, sports, and folklore offered by four associations: Hockey Fiemme, Krampus Fiemme, Dalton Volley, and Dolomitica.
The Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme committee continues its intense work in preparation for the special winter events. The entire day of December 23 will be dedicated to Ski Jumping in Predazzo with the Italian Open Championships, followed by the Tour de Ski on January 3 and 4 between Lago di Tesero and Alpe Cermis, continuing with the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games from February 6 to 22, while the Paralympics will take place from March 6 to 15.
