Val di Fiemme is surely no stranger to major sporting events at the highest level, with the welcoming Trentino locality that shows no sign of stopping. While on the one hand, it is preparing to the future white circus events such as the Tour de Ski, the World Cup and the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, on the other hand it is also thinking about the summer and the Rollerski World Championships that will animate Ziano and the entire valley next September.
From 12th to 15th September the FIS Rollerski World Championships 2024 are scheduled, no less than the top international event for “summer cross-country skiing” athletes, which returns in Trentino after the 2015 and 2021 editions.
It starts Thursday 12th with the Mass Start in free technique of 10 km or 15 km depending on the category (Junior or Senior), and continues on Friday 13th with the exciting 200 m Sprint FT competition. Saturday 14th the Team Sprint version in free technique (with a variable number of laps depending on the category), while Sunday 15th will be the turn of the Mass Start-Uphill in classic technique with the “Cermis Final Climb” to offer a spectacle. Whether on the snow of the Olimpia III slope or the asphalted ramps of the summer variant, the Alpe Cermis makes no concession for anyone and is preparing to be once again strict judge of the performances of the best roller-skiing interpreters, with the Cermis race that being one of the most eagerly awaited and loved by both experts and fans in winter and summer.
With the Val di Fiemme’s World Championship a rich season will come to an end for roller-skiers who will be competing in the World Cup in the Latvian stage of Madona (17-18-20-21 July) and in the Kazakh one of Schuchinsk (14-15-17-18 August) before arriving in Ziano di Fiemme. There, the third and last stage on the calendar will coincide with the World Championship. In fact, at the end of the long weekend in September, the World Cup trophies will also be awarded on the Alpe Cermis in Val di Fiemme.
At Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme, the enthusiasm is already sky-high: “we are really proud to organize this great event, which allows us to celebrate the talent of the Italian roller-skiers as well as reconfirming Ziano and Val di Fiemme as reference points for this sporting discipline” says the president of the organising committee Pietro De Godenz, who has every reason to feel proud of the Italian national team excelling at international level and Ziano di Fiemme that after World Cups, Pre-World Championships and World Championships has amply earned the title of "Roller-skiing capital".
