Thrilling start today in Val di Fiemme. The concluding day of the FIS Nordic Summer Festival started with the men’s Individual Gundersen, which, first on the HS143 hill of Predazzo and later through Ziano di Fiemme, celebrated the success of Stefan Rettenegger in an all-Austrian podium. Austria filled the first five positions with Franz-Josef Rehrl and Paul Walcher on the podium, followed by Johannes Lamparter and Thomas Rettenegger. Thanks to the 2nd best performance on roller skis, the Italian Samuel Costa is the best skier, while Florian Kolb (AUT) is the best jumper. It is, however, Stefan Rettenegger, the man of the day, who won the stage and the FIS Summer Grand Prix.
The Ski Jumping fraction took place in the morning, with an all-Austrian quartet leading the provisional ranking, in this order: Franz-Josef Rehrl, Paul Walcher (+6”), Thomas Rettenegger (+32”) and Johannes Lamparter (+41”).
Just as they were Mozart, Haydn, Schubert, Strauss and Bruckner, the ‘classical music’ continued also in the streets of Ziano di Fiemme, where the Austrian team put on stage a solid performance on roller skis. During the four laps of the Ziano di Fiemme circuit, the Tyrolean tapped their poles on the asphalt to the beat of the music, with the youngest of the Rettenegger brothers, Stefan, who started with a gap of 54” seconds from his brother Thomas. Thanks to a brilliant action, the 2002-born won the top international event, ahead of Franz Josef Rehrl, who started first but was unable to fully manage the advantage he gained on the HS143.
Moreover, while the Austrians' cheers of ‘Jaaaa’ echoed at the finish line, Italy enjoyed Costa's comeback, who took the best skier's bib.
With a lively men’s Individual Gundersen, the Nordic combined programme at the FIS Nordic Summer Festival and also its summer season is completed. Stefan Rettenegger won the FIS Summer Grand Prix 2025 and the coveted trophy with his brilliant performance today in Trentino, joining Germany's Nathalie Armbruster, who won the women's title in the summer Nordic Combined event.
The next Nordic Combined appointment in Val di Fiemme is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, during the Italian OPEN Championships for Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined (Predazzo Ski Jumping Stadium and Passo Lavazè tracks).
