TOUR DE SKI IN VAL DI FIEMME THE 19TH IS ITALIAN AND FIS-APPROVED

From January 3 to 5, the fully Italian 19th Tour de Ski will take place in Val di Fiemme It is the most loved and watched event of the entire cross-country World Cup season

The FIS inspection of the facilities at Lago di Tesero and Alpe Cermis was positive Lamplot, Race Director: the Final Climb is a symbol for the Tour and cannot be missed

Tour de Ski rhymes with Val di Fiemme: the venue in Trentino is preparing to host for the 19th time in 19 years the final stage of the most popular event of the World Cup circuit that will animate the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero tracks up to the Alpe Cermis from January 3 to 5.

With the approach of a new sports season, it is time for the International Ski and Snowboard Federation to conduct the usual inspections in the various competition venues. This is a mere formality for a location such as Val di Fiemme, which boasts decades of experience in the major events field and has passed the FIS inspection in these last few days. The Federal Race Director himself, Michal Lamplot, said he was satisfied with what he had seen in Trentino: ‘The Tour de Ski 2024/2025 competitions will be important in pre-Olympic terms, and as a Federation, we were curious to see the works carried out in the last months to the tracks, as well as the new underground facility that will welcome the athletes.’

It is a well-known fact that there would not be a Tour de Ski without Val di Fiemme, and Lamplot shares the same opinion: ‘This stage is a symbol of the Tour. The Final Climb is so iconic that it cannot be missing from the calendar. In the last years, the Tour de Ski format has changed and during this season we will launch the first fully Italian version, but the Alpe Cermis is and always will be there'. With the FIS increasingly more oriented towards ensuring greater sustainability of its events, both at the environmental and physical-mental level of the athletes, Val di Fiemme is a not irrelevant landmark and synonymous with great sporting spectacle. ‘We aim to make our Tour de Ski more and more attractive, and competitions such as the Final Climb are without a doubt crucial in this. We want to keep the level of the competitions high and at the same time increase the understandability of both the rules and the course of the races. We will make slight changes to the points rules and line-up of athletes on the grid, with revamped bibs to make the Tour de Ski an even more attractive product on all levels,' added Lamplot. A value, that of the Tour, which is composed of the best World Cup athletes taking part in it and the high television success it enjoys, made possible also thanks to the partnership with the Swiss company Infront, which manages the TV rights of the World Cup and takes care of broadcasting the races. Val di Fiemme is ready to be once again at the top of the TV ratings list with the Cermis Final Climb, which at every edition records staggering share percentages.

For the 2024/2025 edition, there will be three days of races in Val di Fiemme, starting with the Sprint in classic technique on Friday, January 3rd. On Saturday 4th, it will continue with the 20 km Skiathlon race and the ramps of Alpe Cermis will end the event on Sunday 5th with the 10km Final Climb in free technique. Adding to the unparalleled sporting spectacle of the Tour de Ski will be the popular side events proposed by the organising committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme, including the gourmet proposals of the Tour del Gusto, the enthralling ‘Coop Mini World Cup’, the traditional Rampa con i Campioni and the pleasant experiences at the Fiemme Lounge and the rich musical entertainment for all tastes.

Staff and volunteers of Val di Fiemme are preparing for a new edition of the Tour de Ski, which will mark an important passage for the venue of Trentino in view of the appointment with the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games of Milano Cortina 2026. The Sprint and Skiathlon races will take place on the redesigned tracks that will characterise the most important sporting event in the world, and the new basement of the Cross-Country Ski Centre will be inaugurated precisely on the occasion of the Tour de Ski. Not to forget that on the calendar there are also the IBU Para Biathlon World Cup (January 29-30) and the FIS Para Cross-Country World Cup (February 1-2), as test events for the Paralympics Milano Cortina 2026, for a winter full of emotions to be experienced in Val di Fiemme. Emotions that will continue until September 2025 when the Fiemme Summer FIS Nordic Festival (September 18-21) will involve the disciplines of ski jumping, Nordic combined and roller-skiing, thus finally inaugurating the renovated Predazzo Jumping Stadium.
