A TOUR FOR SUPER KLÆBO AND JOHAUG IN VAL DI FIEMME A GREAT PELLEGRINO

Today the Final Climb on the Alpe Cermis concludes the 19th Tour de Ski

Norwegians hoard victories and podiums and lots of public
Italy places Pellegrino 4th in the Tour and Romano 10th in the Final Climb
The Tour goes to Klæbo and Johaug. Great success of the organising committee

The Norwegians Therese Johaug and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo conquered Val di Fiemme today, claiming their 4th victory in the Overall ranking of the Tour de Ski, getting even with Justyna Kowalczyk and Dario Cologna.

On the men’s side, it was a Final Climb with a taste of revenge for the stage winner Simen Hegstad Krüger (NOR): the Norwegian yesterday has thrown out of the window the Skiathlon with a fall in one of the first descents of the track at the Cross-Country Stadium of Lago di Tesero and has compromised his placement in the Overall ranking. However, today he lowered his head and ‘paved’ the Alpe Cermis ramps, dictating a high pace as soon as the track reared up. At the finish line, Krüger preceded the Austrian Vermeulen, who with the 2nd place in the final Climb conquered the same placement also in the Overall. The German Friedrich Moch, instead, with a formidable sprint in the final has surpassed in the last metres the French Lapalus, who conquered the first purple bib (Climb) in the Tour de Ski history.

The king of the Tour de Ski is, however, the Norwegian Johannes Høsflot Klæbo who calculated with great intelligence the gaps with his rivals, and concluded his Final Climb at the 18th place winning the 19th edition of the Tour.

Wave high, super high the Norwegian flag on the Alpe Cermis and moving it in all directions is Therese Johaug, who during the Final Climb ascent set her terms. Slind, Weng, Andersson, Sanness and Diggins tried to resist with teeth and nails, but there was little they could do against the overpowering Norwegian champion. Johaug, at the finish line, gave 25” to Slind and 28” to Weng for a Norwegian party.

Jessie Diggins, at the end of the Tour climb to the lower step of the podium of the Overall ranking and she climbs with a ‘big foot’: the American, cuddled at the finish line by no other than the Queen of downhill skiing, Lindsey Vonn, showed the visible brace on her left foot, hit by a plantar fasciitis who compromised her performances in the last stages of the Tour. Honorary place for Astrid Øyre Slind.

The curtain falls on yet another successful edition of the Tour de Ski, which has Val di Fiemme as an undisputed protagonist: for the organising committee Nordic Ski Val di Fiemme, led by president Pietro De Godenz, it is another step towards the 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games Milano Cortina.
