The Ski Jumping season has begun

In January FIS Ski Jumping returns to Val di Fiemme

Ski Jumping in Val di Fiemme from 11th to 13th January
A great comeback with the FIS Nordic Combined competitions scheduled for the same weekend
The victory of Russia’s Evgeniy Klimov came as a surprise in the first race of the season in Wisla (POL) making history
Italy’s Alex Insam came 28th, in Val di Fiemme a spectacular three-day event

The first snow has fallen in the valley, and the winter show that will take ten World Cup races to Val di Fiemme in ten days has already begun. Besides the Tour de Ski on 5th and 6th January and the Nordic Combined from 11th to 13th January, there is a more than welcomed return to the "cradle of Nordic skiing": the Ski Jumping World Cup races are scheduled in the valley of Trentino on the same days of the Nordic Combined competitions. The winner of the first seasonal Ski Jumping race – the Russian Evgeniy Klimov – was a Nordic Combined athlete, who then decided to move to Ski Jumping. Klimov was as cold as the desolate lands of Siberia but was not scared by the good results of his rival Kamil Stoch, even though Stoch was at home in Wisla (POL). The three-time Olympic champion had to deal with the wind factor; he arrived fourth, while the winner made history by getting the first victory ever for Russia in a FIS Ski Jumping World Cup race. He came ahead of Germany’s Stephan Leyhe and Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi, who was great on the HS134 ski jumping hill. Among the Italian athletes, Alex Insam from Val Gardena had a good performance, placing 28th and collecting points on a World Cup Large Hill, which is no small thing.
From Poland to Finland for the next weekend, where two individual events will be held. Stage after stage, the athletes will then arrive to Val di Fiemme with the following programme: on Friday January 11th the qualification round from HS135, on Saturday January 12th the 1st and 2nd competition rounds, and on Sunday January 13th two more competition rounds, always preceded by the qualification round.
On Saturday evening there will also be an opportunity to party together with the "Winterfest" in the party tent at the Cross-Country Stadium in Lago di Tesero, while the Polish Crowd Supporter team with Mikee to the mic and DJ Ucho at the console, will return to Val di Fiemme after the 2012 pre-world championships and the 2013 World Championships to entertain the fans during the races at the Ski Jumping Arena in Predazzo.
In short, everything is ready for the comeback of Val di Fiemme as a reference point for Ski Jumping in the world.
