The 8th FIS Coordination Meeting in Val di Fiemme took place in a friendly and comforting atmosphere, and it was a success. The «Magnifica Comunità» palace in Cavalese provided a wonderful theatre for the so called FIS inspection and everything seemed to be in order for the Organizing Committee of the 2013 Nordic Ski World Championships.
The OC used a series of presentations to show the FIS representatives all the work that has been carried out during the year to work on the World Championships’ project. Besides the improvements to the arenas and the facilities in the stadiums, Fiemme 2013 has now became a reality not only in the real World, but also in the on-line World, creating an important buzz on the Web through the use of social media and its internet web-site. During the tests provided by the Tour de Ski, the ski-jumping and nordic combined World Cup, the arenas were brought to life with a series of side-events that successfully mixed sport, tradition and entertainment, creating a pleasant atmosphere for the audience watching the races. All these side-events proved the vitality and dynamism of the entire Valley, delivering on the slogan adopted by the OC to label all these activities, which is Vallevivva («living valley»). The OC talked also about all the different marketing initiatives carried out throughout the year. Furthermore, it explained thoroughly all the dimensions of the event (logistics, accommodation, etc.) and also its plans about issues such as environmental sustainability and security. Besides these important and serious issues, there was also some time to talk about more trivial topics, like the new official video-game of Fiemme2013.
The FIS delegation was led by secretary general Sarah Lewis, who stated her satisfaction for the impressive work carried out by the OC and decided to seize the opportunity also to congratulate all the participants to the meeting on the progresses made in speaking English.
In first row, among the audience, sat the FISI delegation. Sarah Lewis used some words to praise the new stability found by the Italian Winter Sports Federation after a difficult year and decided also to congratulate FISI on the incredible results achieved last season in nordic combined.
Piero Degodenz, president of the OC, took the floor to thank all the people involved in the World Championships project for their work and to recall also the importance that Val di Fiemme gives to the support and collaboration with FISI. He also recalled the words of minister Piero Gnudi (Minister of regional issues, sport and tourism), who some months ago stated that the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme will be «the most important sports event that Italy will host in 2013». Therefore, Mr. Degodenz seized the opportunity to remember everyone that the World Championships in Val di Fiemme will be an event aiming at representing not only the Trentino region, but the entire country.
