The first individual winner of the 2012 Ski Jumping Summer GP is Maciej Kot (POL)
WISLA (POL) - Poland has a new hill and a new jumper to be proud of. After some problems with the light-system during the team competition held on Friday, which saw the cancellation of the second round and the «half-victory» of Slovenia, the first individual competition of the 2012 season took place on Saturday without any major problem. To avoid other inconveniences with the light-system, the organizers decided to start the race under daylight, with the first round due at 17:00. On the «Adam-Malysz-Hill» there was a fair competition and, at the end of the day, it was the young home-hero Maciej Kot (POL) who could celebrate for the victory with a solid performance characterized by a very good first jump (128.0 m) and a sufficient second jump (123.0 m) that gave him the opportunity to close right in front of Simmon Amman (SUI) and Wolfgang Loitzl (AUT). Kot took the leadership of the race already in the first round, countering the longest jump of the day signed by Amman (130 m) with a fairly long jump (128.0 m) and a better technique compared to the one showed by the Swiss. The second round instead saw the comeback of Loitzl (11th after the first round) who climbed up the ranking and conquered the podium thanks to an almost perfect technique and the best jump of the second round (126.5 m).
The ski-jumping Summer GP will continue in Courchevel on August 15th with a mixed team competition followed by another individual competition.
