The past week-end, the Czech team took part to a series of test races in Germany and Lukas Bauer proved to be on the right track towards a full recovery from his heel injury
Bauer showed a good summer shape during a test race in Germany, taking the victory in the 15 km roller ski competition. "The race was good for me even though I did not feel good during the warm up," Lukas Bauer said to www.czech-ski.com.
Since the World Cup races in Nove Mesto last winter, Bauer have had problems with his heel and therefore he decided to avoid taking part in the cross-country running competition scheduled in Germany. "The heel is not 100% ready yet. Physically it would not have been a problem, but I have been struggling in the terrain as the ligaments and tendons aren't that strong," Bauer explained.
The roller ski race took place after two days of hard training for Bauer and therefore the result must be seen as particularly positive. About his training, Bauer seemed to be very confident, even despite the small problems linked to his heel: "I do not see a problem for the coming season. I am at the similar point of the preparation as in the previous years. I had to only restructure the program."
